It’s that time of year where you are hopefully thinking about going on holiday, or even on holiday already. So I thought I would provide you with a few (useful?) modern-day holiday phrases:
Can I just book my tickets via a real person?!
Can I just order my meal via a real person?!
No, I’m not going to download another ****ing app!
Can I pay in bitcoin?
Can I pay in UK sterling? (Don’t ask this anywhere in the world apart from the UK. They will laugh at you.)
Are there any planes taking off today?
Does this contain milk / gluten / sugar?
€6.50 for a bottle of water? Are you kidding me?
Can I please have a coffee without cow’s milk, cream, sugar, agave syrup, coconut milk, soya milk, oat milk, pea milk, chocolate or cinnamon and NOT decaffeinated? Yes! I JUST WANT A BLACK COFFEE!
It’s only a cold! I did a test this morning!
Where is the hand gel please?
Do you sell Factor 60 sun cream?
Joking aside, if you need vocabulary when on holiday in an English-speaking country I guess you’ll use an online translator or an app or you’ll ask someone to translate. You may even have an old-fashioned phrasebook. So really, all that remains for me to seriously say is: Have a great summer!
