Business & Professional English training for adults

Hello and welcome!

To introduce myself briefly: I’m Michelle Mildiner, an English language trainer and proofreader/editor. Born in 1972 in London, I'm a native speaker and Cambridge CELTA qualified. I lived in London until I was 18 and then studied French with Linguistics at the University of Manchester.

My English language courses are designed for individuals or small classes, online or in person. I teach English to adults (General, Business & Professional) and specialise in grammar, conversation and pronunciation.

Before our first lesson, you will receive a questionnaire to determine your level, aims and needs. I will use this to make sure that lessons are relevant to you and your circumstances. Once lessons have begun, you will also receive regular feedback on grammar, pronunciation and new vocabulary. If you have any current needs such as rehearsing a presentation or writing a report, we can always look at these together in our lesson.

As a private teacher, I have the time and energy to prepare lessons that are inspiring and engaging, with each student in mind, every step of the way. I'm patient, enthusiastic and friendly, and love helping students to feel confident, happy and engaged in their English learning.

As well as one-to-one lessons lasting from one to two hours, I also offer half-hour conversation lessons and an English learners' book club. See below for book club details.

Clients include Science Europe, Enhesa, Notilius (formerly Cruysmans & Verstraete), and BOp (Brussels Ouderenplatform). For more details about my current and past clients and experience, please contact me.

Translation (French to English)

As part of my work, I have been translating from French to English for more than 25 years. Topics include environment, health, education and science, as well as poetry and short stories. My translations are meticulously researched and thought through, resulting in accurate and natural sounding English. I have also been involved in subtitling work for Handicap International and provided translations of children’s cartoons from Italian to English.
